I have a lot of strong opinions. For those pieces of mine with a point to prove, look below:
- “The Star-Spangled Cosmos: America’s Exceptional Future in Space”: In which I argue that the United States is on the precipice of a golden age for space travel.
- “Cradle of Humanity”: Some of my thoughts on space colonization, particularly of Mars.
- “Space Navies in Sci-Fi”: Space really is an ocean, dammit!
- “The Shape of Starships to Come”: Why the interstellar vehicles of the future will be a lot smaller than you think.
I’ve also been known to dabble in creative nonfiction. These are true stories from my life, told in sometimes unorthodox ways:
- “Star Trek in Three Memories”: Pretty much what the title implies. A lighthearted collection of anecdotes about my experience growing up with Star Trek, from three very different times in my life.
- “Observatory”: How I took up stargazing at a late age, while on a beach trip with friends. Beer was involved.
- “Journeys in the Fever Forest”: About a forest, yes—and a whole lot else besides. A snapshot of the emotional and creative intensity of my early teenage years.
